Tropical Detox Smoothie

Sometimes we just all need a good DETOX! I’m a pretty healthy eater, but it’s so hard not to indulge around the holidays and when on vacation. When I visit a different region, I can’t help but want to immerse myself in the local food, including fried catfish, barbeque and locally sourced ice cream (dairy-free for me, of course!) Needless to say, after this recent trip to Arkansas, (which also included my hubby’s birthday and 4th of July…more cake and sweets, uhh!) I was feeling pretty lethargic, my skin was dull and breaking out and was bloated and unregular. My body was telling me it needed to detox and get back on track. This Tropical Detox Smoothie was exactly what I needed.

The inspiration for this smoothie comes from my favorite smoothie at Tropical Smoothie Café, the Detox Island Green Smoothie. One reason I think it’s the best one their menu, is the fact it is naturally sweetened, no added sugar, but still unbelievably delicious.

My recipe does not include kale, (sorry, but I’m not a big fan) however, the taste is still amazing and fresh. The clean, whole food ingredients are just what your body needs to detox and get back on the healthy train. So, if you’ve been indulgent with a little too much processed foods and sugary sweets and drinks, hop on the detox train and try this smoothie! (Don’t be scared of the green!💚)

Makes a 16oz serving.

How many calories and grams of sugar does my Tropical Detox Smoothie have? After calculating the ingredients used and amounts, the calories are 195and the sugar is 34 grams for a 16oz serving. (For complete nutritional information see recipe card located on my blog at: www.inspirationapron.com/drinks-tropical-detox-smoothie)

The banana adds the highest number of calories and sugar, and I used a large banana, so to cut back a little more, use a small banana. I also would like to note that the cost is less than $2.00 per serving, as opposed to over $5.00 for the store bought one. (plus gas to go get it!)
