Lavender London Fog Latte (Vegan and Dairy Free)

I am American through and through, but there’s something that has always fascinated me with a monarchy-ruled kingdom. I was probably “just old enough” to remember what a huge event Princess Diana’s wedding was and watching it unfold on the television. Grand and beautiful, a true fairy-tale as it seemed at the time to a little girl like me who had only seen princesses on animated Disney movies. If my memory serves right, I was a princess for Halloween later that year, I’m sure seeing Princess Diana in her spectacular wedding gown inspired me. My mom helped make my costume that was adorned with shiny buttons collected over the years. I was so proud of my costume and announced at every house that I was a princess (while doing a curtsy of course.) My brothers got very annoyed and told me to stop telling everyone that, haha…but I digress.

Needless to say, my inspiration for this Lavender London Fog is the Queen’s Jubilee celebration this week. She has had the longest reign of anyone on the British throne and that’s truly something to celebrate. I wanted to enjoy a little sip of the British life and boy did this unique tea concoction satisfy in a most delicious way! What is a London Fog Latte? If you’ve been to a fancy coffee shop, you may have seen this drink offered on the menu. Basically, it’s Earl Grey Tea mixed with steamed milk. I decided to add a little pizazz using another English icon, lavender. Beautiful lavender fields speckle the land throughout the United Kingdom and are truly something to behold that hopefully one day in the future I’ll have the pleasure to see in person.

The lavender flavor compliments the Earl Grey Tea very well and adds sophistication in the most delicious way. I used Nature’s Flavors Lavender Flavor Syrup for an easy yet impressive way to add subtle lavender flavor. It also slightly sweetens it in just the right amount. This easy recipe for Lavender London Fog has only three ingredients and three steps and is for one 10oz serving, so adjust quantities as needed.

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup Earl Grey Tea, brewed and steeped
  • 1 tbsp Nature’s Flavors Organic Lavender Flavor Syrup
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened vanilla almond milk, heated 20-30 seconds in microwave (any plant milk will work)

Optional: Culinary lavender for garnish

Brew and steep tea as directed, for 3-5 minutes, then remove tea bag.

Add lavender flavor syrup and stir.

Add plant milk and froth.

Ways to froth without a frother:

  • use an electric mixer
  • add mixture to a glass jar, seal and shake
  • use a food processor
  • use a whisk to beat mixture

Garnish with culinary lavender, if desired, then enjoy!

I highly recommend dunking some Lotus Biscoff Cookies into the tea, it's an excellent accompaniment.
