How to make adorable fall themed pumpkin spice hot cocoa bombs. These are so cute for Halloween or Thanksgiving. They'd make great gifts for the holidays too.

Hot cocoa bombs are so much fun to use! You put it in a cup and pour hot water or milk over them. The chocolate melts, and the powder comes out for a delicious cup of hot cocoa. I used pumpkin spice hot chocolate for these.

I added the cocoa mix and marshmallows inside. Then I drizzled candy melts on top and added a candy pumpkin. I have more decorating ideas and tips on my blog if you want to read how to make pumpkin spice hot chocolate bombs.

I use this 2.5 inch sphere mold to make my hot cocoa bombs. They are the perfect size for mugs and hold enough mix to make a good cup of hot cocoa.

Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cup Vanilla Candy Melts
  • 2-3 packets of Pumpkin Spice flavored hot cocoa mix
  • 30 Miniature marshmallows
  • ¼ c orange candy melts
  • 3 Brach’s Mellowcreme Pumpkins
Instructions

Use a double boiler to melt the vanilla candy melts. You can also microwave on high for 1 minute at 50 percent power. Stir the melted chocolate and continue to microwave for 30 seconds at a time. Place the silicone mold on a baking sheet and spoon about 1.5 tablespoons of melted chocolate into each cavity of the mold. Place in the fridge or freezer for 3 to 5 minutes.
Carefully push the chocolate out from the mold. The chocolate is fragile, so wear food safe gloves and handle as little as possible.
Heat a place in the microwave for 20 to 30 seconds. Place a sphere open side down on the place and twist sightly to melt the rim.
Place about 2/3 of a packet of hot cocoa mix into the sphere and add mini marshmallows. Place another sphere on the plate and then place it on top of the sphere and twist slightly to help them stick together.
If there are cracks, heat a spoon in hot water, dry it, and use it to smooth the seam. Repeat until you've made three pumpkin spice hot chocolate bombs.
Heat the orange candy melts. You can use the microwave for this since it's a small amount and won't be poured in the mold. Use the Wilton bottle or pour the orange chocolate into a sandwich bag and cut off the tip. Pipe the orange candy melts over the pumpkin chocolate bombs. Place a pumpkin on top and let rest for a few minutes until set up.
When you're ready to drink your fall flavor cocoa bombs, heat 8 ounces of water or milk in the microwave or on the stove. Place pumpkin hot chocolate bombs in a mug and slowly pour the milk over it. Stir gently so the chocolate melts and the bomb opens.

These sound beyond delish! But, I don't understand how they are hollow inside.

When you put the melted chocolate inside the mold, you then tilt the mold until the melted chocolate has covered the inside of all the spheres. Hold the mold up to the light so you can check that there are no holes or cracks. You can then just use your finger or a painters brush to brush some melted chocolate on them. I use a clear mold instead of a silicone mold so it makes it easier.
