Here I show you how to make your own butter and how quick and easy it is to make too from one ingredient.

You’ll need 2 cups of double cream.

Add them to a mixer.

Start on a slow speed and slowly turn the speed up.

You will start to see the cream thicken. Keep going.

It will start to look like scrambled egg. I scraped the sides down at this point to make sure all cream was being whipped.

You will need a splash guard or tea towel as the cream will separate and the buttermilk will splash.

When the butter is ready it will be stuck to the whisk like this and the buttermilk will be separated in the bowl.

The butter needs to be put into ice cold water to help remove excess buttermilk.

Remove the butter from the whisk and push into a ball.

Change the ice cold water and place into the bowl.

Break the butter apart a bit to try to remove any buttermilk caught inside.

You’ll need to change the water 3-5 times until it stays clear.

Put the butter into a Muslin cloth.

Wring out any liquid through the cloth.

Now you have some fresh, creamy butter ready to use. You can add 1/4-1/2tsp of salt if you want it salted.

Transfer to a container to store in the fridge.
