The Best Crock Pot Gluten Free Beef Stew

Crock Pot:

I love using my crock pot in the fall and winter months for soups and stews. These types of recipes are so simple and easy to make! Most of all I can add my ingredients to the crock pot and in 6 to 8 hours I have a hot meal to serve my family!

This meal is a favorite with my guys!

So let’s get started!

Ingredients:

Ingredients to make The Best Gluten Free Crock Pot Beef Stew:

Roast Beef: Use a good cut of beef, the best cut’s of beef for stew are chuck roast or round roast, because of the marbling. This keeps the beef from becoming dry and tough.

Potatoes: Using a starchy potato for beef stew add’s a thickness to the stew broth. A Russet or Yukon potato both have a good amount of starch.

Carrots: Regular carrots have more vitamin C than the baby carrots. Both work wonderful in beef stew and are nutritional. Did you know there are five types of carrots?

Peas: I used the little peas in this beef stew recipe. Did you know Pea’s are actually a fruit because they come from the flower and it contain seeds.

Onions: Yellow onions have the strongest flavor so they work great in sauces, stew’s and soups.

Stewed Tomato’s: I like to use an Italian canned stewed tomato because of the extra flavor it gives the beef stew gravy.

Gluten Free Flour: Any gluten free flour will do.

Olive Oil: Extra Virgin Olive Oil is the lightest of olive oils, works great in this recipe.

Beef Broth: Organic has less additives.

Seasonings:

Seasoned package of Gluten Free Beef Gravy: this add’s a little thickness to the beef stew broth.

Garlic: Crushed garlic

Garlic Powder:

Salt:

Pepper: Black pepper

  2. next add to a 1 gallon freezer bag flour, half of the salt, and pepper, shake bag well.
  3. Then place the roast beef in the bag and shake well pressing flour coating into the beef roast.
  4. Brown the roast in the skillet for 3 to 4 minutes on each side.
  5. Place the browned roast beef in the crock pot, cut up vegetables, peas, blended stewed tomato’s and seasonings.
  6. Add the rest of the seasonings, salt and pepper over the top of the beef stew, add in the peas, vegetables, stewed tomato’s, and beef broth. Cover and let cook 6 to 8 hours on high or 10 to 12 hours on low.

    1. You don’t need a crock pot. A Dutch oven works perfectly.
    2. You really need to add red wine to this.
