Who doesn't love summer time? The sun, the adventures, the weather...and the produce! One of my favorite things to have during summer is fresh berries...and I'm always looking for new ways to serve them! This quick and easy berry salad includes a few twists: honey, lemon, and basil! The honey and lemon add some delightful sweetness to pair with your berries, while the basil adds a surprising and satisfying savory note...
Make sure to wash and dry your berries before adding them - I like to roll my red berries dry using a clean red dishtowel!
Serve directly from the dish or place into smaller, individual bowls...adding edible flowers is a fun way to garnish!
Fresh Honey Lemon Basil Summer Berry Salad
Recipe details
Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups sliced strawberries
- 3/4 cups blueberries
- 3/4 cups raspberries
- 1 1/3 Tbsps lemon juice
- 2/3 tbsps honey
- Fresh chopped basil (to taste; 6-7 leaves)
Instructions
Directions
- Wash and dry your fruit - I like to use a red dish towel for this (see pics), but you could use paper towels too!
- Cut tops off of your strawberries and then slice them.
- Place all fruit in medium bowl.
- Stir honey and lemon juice together (I do this is a glass measuring cup so I can measure then mix in one dish).
- Drizzle your lemon honey mixture onto your fruit. Gently toss to coat.
- Wash your basil leaves and pat dry. Slice them into strips.
- Sprinkle with basil before serving (a fun option is to garnish with edible flowers - chamomile and strawberry blossoms are edible, but make sure you source them safely - local farmers markets are great places for this)!

Tips
- Try adding edible fruit to your berry dishes for added beauty and fun! Check a local farmers market (that way, you can make sure the flowers haven't been sprayed with pesticides and are safe for consumption).

Looks great... I will try but I think you meant to say try adding edible flowers in stead of fruit! Thank you for sharing.
I would love to add blackberries into the mixture also
