Crispy Skinless Air Fried Chicken Thighs With Umami Seasoning

I love fried chicken but most of us know it’s not the healthiest, sadness! Soooo, when the whole air fryer craze came out, I tried cooking everything in it. One of my most favorite meals is this fried chicken, it’s skinless yet still has a crispy texture without the use of a lot of oil. The avocado/olive oil spray along with the seasonings gives it a great crunch. The trick is to ensure the chicken is patted dry before adding the oil and seasonings. It cooks fast in the air fryer and clean up is a breeze.
I served it for lunch over a salad but this recipe is only for the chicken. You can serve it any way you prefer, even in a sandwich 😋 It can be made spicy if you substitute the paprika for cayenne pepper. Either way, the chicken is very moist on the inside, crunchy outside and flavorful especially if you use the Trader Joe’s Umami Seasoning, it’s so yummy.
WHAT IS UMAMI SEASONING?
Trader Joe’s Umami seasoning is made from a delicious combination of kosher salt, dried porcini and white button mushrooms, dried onion, mustard seed, red and black pepper, and thyme. It’s described as it being the “fifth taste,” it’s savory and almost earthy. The flavor reminds me of a robust soup stock. It’s delicious.

Ingredients
For the chicken
- 2.5 lbs boneless chicken thighs, approximately 5 thighs
- Avocado or Olive Oil Spray
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp Trader Joe’s Mushroom & Company Umami Seasoning
- 1 tsp paprika
Instructions
For the chicken
- Rinse and pat dry the chicken and place in bowl.
- Spray chicken with avocado or olive oil.
- Add all seasonings and rub to coat chicken.
- Place chicken in air fryer basket.
- Cook at 380° F for 18 minutes, once the 18 minutes are up, turn chicken and set timer to 12 minutes.
- Remove from air fryer and serve immediately, while warm.
- Enjoy!

I was wondering if you could use boneless chicken breasts instead of thighs and if so what would the timing change to?
