Food holds a special place in my heart as I am sure it does for you too. This is because recipes that I make are either an experiment with some of my favourite ingredients or they have been passed down to me. Food also creates bonds and strengthens relationships; this is true! My mom introduced me to these delicious za'atar and feta pastries that are oh so easy to make and serve as the perfect snack, appetizer, or light breakfast. Za'atar and feta are also two very delicious ingredients that go very well together. I love when a recipe is simple yet has so much delicious flavour!

Ingredients
For the pastries
  • 1 puff pastry sheet
  • 1 tbsp of olive oil
  • 1 cup and a 1/2 of za'atar
  • 1 cup and a 1/2 of feta cheese
Instructions
For the pastries
Preheat the oven to 365
Spread out the puff pastry sheet and brush on some olive oil to coat it, if you feel that you need more than 1 tbsp feel free to use more.
Spread the feta cheese and za'atar evenly on the puff pastry.
Once the puff pastry is evenly coated with the olive oil, feta , and za'atar roll it up and cut it into small even pieces. Think about it like you're making cinnamon rolls!
Spread the small rolls onto a baking sheet and bake in the oven for 30-40 min. I say this because everyone's ovens may be different power wise. Check on them every now and then!
Tips
  • If you don't have a puff pastry sheet you can also use phyllo, just keep in mind that they may not rise and become puffy like they are in the photo. They will still taste delicious though
  • This is optional but I like to sprinkle on some extra za'atar and feta on the rolls once they're out of the oven for nicer presentation and added delicious flavour!
