Tahini might strike you as an ingredient that would suit savoury dishes more especially given its role in hummus- a dish loved by many.
However, much like how salt elevates caramel, tahini has, in this recipe, elevated bananas; balancing out the natural, mellow sweetness with an earthy sharpness.
To make this duo even more developed, adding dates contributes with a dark toffee sweetness, eliminating the need to add extra sugar altogether.
It's a filling drink, so it would be great start to the day for an energy boost, or in the afternoon when you're feeling the need for a healthier dessert.

Banana, Tahini and Dates Shakes

Ingredients
- 2 frozen banana sliced
- 4 medjool dates, chopped
- ¼ cup tahini
- 5 pcs ice cubes
- 1½ cup oat milk (or any milk you like)
- pinch ground cinnamon
- 1 tsp sesame seeds for garnish
- extra pinch ground cinnamon for garnish
Instructions
- Put all the ingredients into a blender and mix until smooth and even in colour.
- Transfer the banana date shakes to a glass and add pinch more ground cinnamon and sesame seeds on top. Enjoy!
