Ingredients
For the oats
  • 1 cup steel cut oats
  • 3 cup water
  • 1 cup fresh apple cider
  • 2 medium apples, cored and diced
  • 1½ tbsp honey, preferably local
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ½ tsp ground nutmeg
  • ½ tsp ground allspice
  • ½ tsp salt, to taste
To serve
  • 1 medium apple, cored and diced
  • ½ cup pecans, chopped
  • Maple syrup
Instructions

Add the oats with the water, cider, apples, honey and spices to the greased slow cook crock with a little salt and stir to mix
Cover with a lid and cook for 6-8 hours, checking at around 5 hours to see how they are doing
To serve, cool slightly before adding to bowls and topping with chopped apples, pecans and maple syrup – or other ingredients if you prefer!
Tips
  • This recipe calls for steel cut oats and it is important to stick with them as the cooking time is worked out on that type of oats. You can definitely try others, but you might want to experiment a bit with cooking times – they may need more or less depending on consistency.

    Title says Instant Pot oats with 35 min cooking time. Recipe uses crock pot with 6 hour cook time! What setting for crock pot? High or low? Do you have instructions for Instant pot use as title suggest?
