Overnight oats have become one of the most popular breakfast recipes out there. And for good reason- they’re easy to make, there are no cooking requirements and they’re delicious!

This particular overnight oats recipe is my favorite, especially with the addition of cold brew flavored coffee. We can all use a little kickstart in the mornings!

Ingredients for Overnight Oats

Cold Brew Overnight Oats (makes 1)

Prep time: 5 minutes

Cook time: 0 minutes

  • ½ cup old-fashioned rolled oats (Steel-cut oats will be a bit chewier, while quick 1minute oats will be softer–I like the in-between texture of old-fashioned rolled oats.)
  • 2 tablespoons of cold-brewed coffee (I buy this exact brand online)
  • ½ cup milk (any of choice–you can substitute dairy-free, almond milk, soy milk, oat milk or even coconut milk) I prefer unsweetened almond milk vanilla flavored.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon flaxseed or chia seeds
  • Dash of sea salt

How to Make Easy Overnight Oats

Step 1.Mix Your Ingredients

In your favorite 8oz. or 16oz. mason jar, (or any glass jar with a lid you have on hand) add your old fashioned oats, cold brew, and milk or non dairy substitute. Mix together.

It’s kind of like making an overnight oatmeal but with more flavor.

You can make this recipe gluten free by substituting certified gluten free oats in place of rolled oats.

Step 2.Add Vanilla

Add in your vanilla and maple syrup or honey. Mix together. (You could always leave out the maple, but this is what gives it that rich breakfast pancake flavor we’ve grown to love! Step 3.Mix Flaxseed

Add your flaxseed and salt. Stir and mix together. (Some people prefer to use the popular chia seeds instead of flaxseed. Both are a wonderful addition to overnight oats and add the extra fiber needed to keep you full all morning long.)

Step 4. Cover and Refrigerate

Cover with a lid, and place in the fridge overnight until the next morning. Wait for the magic to happen while you’re sleeping.

If you’re in a hurry, I’ll let you in on a little secret. These overnight oats will be ready in 4-6 hours if you don’t want to wait overnight.

You can meal prep by batching a whole week’s worth of these at the beginning of the week if you like. See my other easy meal planning tips for beginners as well as grab your FREE GUIDE HERE.

Step 5. Open and Enjoy!

Open the mason jar in the morning and enjoy alongside your favorite beverage! It’s so awesome to wake up to this time-saving treat.

It’s like a little breakfast fairy came while you were sleeping and prepared a healthy and filling breakfast just for you.

That’s all there is to it! You can top your oats with whatever recipe combinations of fruits or nuts you like best. Give this easy overnight oats recipe a try – I promise you won’t be disappointed!
