This maple fudge recipe is sweet and savory. It’s loaded with all the great sweetness we like in a fudge recipe but also the bacon adds a nice level of saltiness that makes this recipe unique.

Ingredients

  • 1 12 ounce bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 14 ounce can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup of real bacon bits or 5-6 pieces of bacon
  • 1/3 cup of maple syrup, divided
  • ¼ cup brown sugar, packed
  • ½ teaspoon of salt
  • 1 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 8x8 baking pan lined with parchment paper
  • Cooking spray
Instructions

Spray pan with cooking spray and cover bottom and sides of the pan with parchment paper and set aside.
Pre-heat oven to 300.
If using real bacon bits, Mix the bacon bits, ¼ cup maple syrup and the brown sugar. Spread evenly onto a baking mat and cook about 10 minutes. Take from oven and allow to cool.
If you are using real bacon strips, place on the baking mat, brush with the maple/brown sugar mixture and bake for 10-15 minutes or until crispy. Take from oven and allow to cool.
Melt chips in microwave in 30 second bursts until completely melted and smooth. Do not cook for more than 30 seconds at a time or you will burn them.
Mix in the sweetened condensed milk until smooth. Mix in the vanilla, salt and remaining maple syrup.
Chop your candied bacon into small pieces.
Fold the 2/3 of the bacon into the mixture.
Pour the mixture into the pan and press the remainder of the candied bacon onto the top of the fudge.
Cover baking pan with foil and place in refrigerator until fudge is firm. Place fudge on cutting board and cut into 1-2” pieces and enjoy!
