Valentine's Day Sugar Cookie Cups
This Valentine's Day Sugar Cookie Cups Recipe is really so cute and they come out so tasty and really adorable!
This Valentine Sugar Cookie Cups Recipe is actually pretty easy to make as well, because you are using a bag of sugar cookie mix instead of going through the entire process of making the sugar cookie dough from scratch.
Of course, if you prefer to make your own sugar cookie dough from scratch, feel free - but it will definitely take more time and lend to more clean up as well.
These cookie cups are perfect for Valentine's Day parties, to bring into your office for your coworkers, or just simply to make with the family to celebrate Valentine's Day.
This Valentine Sugar Cookie Cups Recipe is perfect for just about anything!
Baker's Notes about these Valentine's Day Sugar Cookie Cups
When making this Valentine's Day Sugar Cookie Cups Recipe, you should be using a #18 Wilton tip. The pretty little heart decorations are Wilton Icing Decorations, and both the sprinkles are Wilton brand as well. The pain is a mini muffin size.
You can find Wilton sprinkles and decorations at your local grocery store, Target, Walmart, etc - but they may not have the exact ones you'd like for Valentine's Day. You can always find them on Amazon!
Please note that if you are using a nonstick cookie pan, you shouldn't need to use a non-stick spray. But you know your personal baking supplies best - go with your gut! No one wants a broken cookie cup!

Directions for making this Valentine's Day Sugar Cookie Cups Recipe
Heat oven to 375 and spray mini muffin cups with nonstick cooking spray. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, add the bag of sugar cookie mix. Add your softened butter and eggs and then mix well until a soft dough forms. The dough will be stiff - and I tend to do this part with my hands, as it's easier. Add in your ¼ cup sprinkles and mix them in well. You can even knead them in with your hands.
Use a 1 tablespoon portion scoop to scoop the dough and roll it into a ball. Place the ball into your prepared baking pans like so. If you don't have a scoop, you can just use a tablespoon to scoop out the correct amount, and then roll it into a ball. The scoop just makes it that much easier!
Using a pastry blender, press each ball of dough into the pan. You want a nice edge to the cookie cups, so keep an eye that the dough isn't breaking as you follow this step.
Funny story, I tried making cookie cups years and years ago...by turning the mini muffin pan upside down and forming the dough around the indentations...as you can imagine, that did NOT work out well for me.
I was basically just left with scraps of really thin cookies and an extremely messy pan to clean up! This method is so much easier and works so much better!
Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the cookie cups are light golden brown. Remove them from the oven and allow to cool for 20 minutes before removing from pan. You can easily pop them out with a small knife.
Let them cool completely on a wire rack. If they are even slightly warm, resist temptation! They need to be room temperature before you frost them, or the frosting will melt.
Scoop the frosting into a piping bag fitted with a #18 Wilton tip. Pipe into cookies and top with Valentine sprinkles and decorations!
