Drop Sugar Cookies

These sugar cookies are almost an exact drop version of my rolled sugar cookies. Except that this recipe calls for shortening instead of butter. I used the butter flavored shortening and it really vamped up the taste as far as I was concerned. Using sour cream really helps keep these moist and give just a touch of tang to the cookie. They are easy to make and just get moist the more they sit in a covered container. First you combine the shortening and sugar until creamy and then add the eggs, vanilla and sour cream. After that sift your dry ingredients together. Mix everything together and drop by scoopfuls onto greased cookie sheet. I added some chocolate candies that had strawberry on the inside for a Valentines treat and let me tell you they were very good. I also like to sprinkle extra colored sugar on top to give them a little sweet crunch.

Mixing the wet ingredients with the dry a little at a time.

Sift your dry ingredients together.

Mix everything together good.

This is what it looks like when combined.

Drop by cookie scoopfuls or use two tablespoons.

I use a greased parchment lined pan.

The colored sugar cookies.

Some with the chocolate candies. I put them on after taking out of the oven. You could add additional candies to the top for additional celebrations.
