Fruit-Topped Sugar Cookies

One thing I like about these Fruit-Topped Sugar Cookies is how pretty they are! They just have the look of spring with all that luscious fresh fruit on top of sweet, creamy frosting! And another thing I love is how easy they are to make!

You can use plain sugar cookies purchased from your local supermarket or bakery, or pre-made refrigerated sugar cookie dough. Or if you prefer homemade, use your favorite sugar cookie recipe! Same for the frosting—use a container of pre-made frosting or make your favorite homemade recipe. Then use your favorite fresh fruit to top them off and make them pretty!

Ingredients

  • 2 dozen store-bought plain, unfrosted sugar cookies (or a (16-ounce) roll of refrigerated sugar cookie dough (bake according to package directions); or make your favorite homemade sugar cookie recipe)
  • 1 (16-ounce) container ready-made vanilla or cream cheese frosting (or your favorite homemade frosting)
  • 3 cups of assorted colorful fresh fruit cut into small slices or pieces, like strawberries, blueberries, and kiwi fruit (other options: bite-size pineapple chunks, sliced peaches, chunks of mango, blackberries, raspberries)
Instructions

Place plain, unfrosted store-bought cookies on a large tray or pan (If baking your sugar cookies, bake according to package directions or according to the recipe you are using; let cookies cool completely).
Cut the fruit you are using into bite-size pieces—small chunks or slices.
Spread your pre-made or homemade frosting generously over each sugar cookie (use about 1 Tablespoon of frosting per cookie).
Top the frosted cookies with fresh fruit and serve. If not serving right away, wait until you’re almost ready to serve before you top the cookies with fruit.
