This is an adorable sweet treat to make for the movie Hocus Pocus.

The Spellbook is such a classic part of the movie.

About the Spellbook in Hocus Pocus

The very most important curse in the Spellbook is the “Black Flame Candle Spell“! It is the spell that ensures that if the three Sanderson Sister Witches ever get killed AND then a virgin lights the Black Flame Candle on Hallow’s Eve (Halloween) – during a full moon of course – then the three witches will return. They will be alive for JUST one night unless they suck the life out of a human child before sunrise.

Ingredients for Spellbook Brownies

The base for this darling dessert to eat while watching Hocus Pocus can be a brownie, a cookie or a piece of cake. For this post, I used a small cake that I found on sale at the grocery store. I think it would be super cute on cookies and brownies too!

  • 3 inch square baked brownies, pieces of cake or cookies – FROSTED with chocolate icing
  • Chocolate Frosting
  • Chocolate Sprinkles
  • Candy Eyes
  • Ziploc Bag
  • Scissors
Directions

Start with three inch square sweet treats that have been frosted with chocolate icing.

Step One

Put about a cup of chocolate frosting into a ziploc bag. The size that works the best is the quart but any size could be used. With scissors, cut a SMALL corner off to create the opening where the frosting with be squeezed out.

Step Two

Squeeze a small dollop of frosting on each square where the candy eye will be placed. This frosting is kind of like glue.

Step Three

Place the candy eye on and then use the frosting from the bag to go around the eye.

Step Four

Use the chocolate icing (and chocolate sprinkles) to decorate the spellbook cakes. Be as simple or as elaborate as desired.
