Looking for a delicious appetizer or light bite dinner that is super easy to make? Wait until you try this caramelized pear flatbread recipe.

With spring brunch season on the horizon, I want to share this AWESOME recipe that you can make as an appetizer or serve as a meal.

It’s so fresh, delicious and simple to make.

Plus, it’s a great way to use fresh arugula or spinach from the garden.

I’m planning to make it for Easter brunch, but Chris and I enjoy it on a casual Friday night with our favorite white wine.

Wait until you see how quick and easy this delicious caramelized pear flatbread recipe is to make!

Is Flatbread the Same as Bread?

Flatbread is a type of bread that is rolled into flattened dough that can be made with flour, water, milk, yogurt, salt and other liquids.

It’s a great base layer for different types of food like pizzas, appetizers, and desserts.

We love to make it as a pizza or serve it as some sort of appetizer.

Is It Healthy to Eat Flatbread?

Homemade flatbread can be pretty healthy if you make it with whole wheat and lower-calorie options like low fat yogurt.

But it’s a great option to include as part of a balanced, healthy diet because you can top it with lots of other healthy ingredients like arugula, spinach, kale, onions, peppers, etc.

I love to make flatbread pizzas because…who doesn’t love pizza?

And this recipe for caramelized pears flatbread is another take on pizza.

What Can I Do With Lots of Pears?

If you enjoy pears as much as I do, there are so many different ways to enjoy them!

  • Pears make a great, healthy snack.
  • They can be grilled. Yummo!
  • Pears can be added to pancake, muffin or bread mixtures.
  • They pare (no pun intended) with cheese.
  • Pears go well in salads.
  • And they coordinate well with chicken and other main course meals.

Do Pears Taste Good Caramelized?

Absolutely they do.

Have you ever tried it before?

It’s so easy to do and adds a ton of flavor to dishes.

But they also taste really good as a healthy snack on their own.

Can You Freeze Caramelized Pears?

The answer is, yes you can freeze caramelized pears.

They lose nothing in their taste or texture.

Just be sure to keep them in an airtight container.

How to Make Caramelized Pear Flatbread Recipe Easy

This caramelized pear flatbread recipe is so tasty.

It’s good enough to serve as an appetizer or brunch side if you cut it into slices.

Or it can be served as a main dish.

This flatbread recipe is super easy to make, so it is a go-to in my arsenal of quick, easy, and healthy recipes.

Grab your favorite flatbread and set it on a non-stick pan while you pre-heat the oven to 400.

Slice up one pear and onion.

Then saute both in extra-virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar, then set aside.

Bake the flatbread for 5 minutes to crisp it up in the oven before topping it.

After the pear mixture cooks down and gets soft, top the flatbread with it.

Then top it off with fresh arugula or spinach from the garden.

Add some fresh mozzarella balls and drizzle with some balsamic glaze.

If you want to add a nutty texture, top it off with some walnuts.

Then pop it in the oven for 10 minutes.

Remove from the oven and drizzle a little more balsamic glaze.

And season with salt and pepper.

Allow to cool, then slice up and enjoy!

Doesn’t it look so good?

While this recipe says it is for two servings, if you plan to serve it as an appetizer, it would be enough for 2-4 servings.

And if you want a little more variation with flavor, you can top this off with some fresh feta.

I’m not a huge fan of feta, so I leave it off.

But this recipe is SO good and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!

this is a great recipe! only change I made was I omitted the arugula and added crumbled gorgonzola cheese in place of the mozzarella balls. pears and gorgonzola cheese pair well together and takes the flavor to a higher level! I keep mine in the oven with the toppings so the cheese will melt a little and the dough can get a little crispy. so so good!
