Chocolate banana bread is so easy to make. I always seem to have extra bananas at home and this recipe is one of my favorites! It's a nice soft banana bread with just the right amount of banana flavor. The chocolate is enough to feel indulgent but isn't too rich. It's great with coffee or as an afternoon snack. I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

  • Can the banana bread be frozen? Yes you can. Store in an air tight container for best results.
  • Do I have to use ripe bananas? Yes you do. You need them to be nice and soft. Fresh bananas are too firm.
  • Can you swap the walnuts for something different? Yes you can. Use any nut you prefer or leave them out entirely.
  • Can you use a sugar alternative like Stevia? Yes you can. Use the same amount as listed for the sugar in the recipe.

  • 1/2 c Melted Butter
  • 1 c Ripe Bananas ( 2 bananas)
  • 1/2 c Sour Cream
  • 2 Eggs
  • 1/4 c Vegetable Oil
  • 1/4 c Whole Milk
  • 2 tsp Vanilla Extract
  • 1 c Sugar
  • 1 tsp Baking Soda
  • 1 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 c Cocoa Powder
  • 1 c AllPurpose Flour
  • 1 c Chocolate Chips
  • 1 c Toasted Walnuts ( optional )

Combine your melted butter and bananas in a mixing bowl.
Add in your sour cream to the mix and thoroughly mix it into the batter. You don't want any lumps of sour cream in your banana bread.
Add your oil, eggs, milk and vanilla extract. Then mix together until well combined.
Add the sugar, flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, salt, toasted walnuts, and 3/4 c of the chocolate chips.
Mix together until well combined but be careful not to over mix.
Spray a loaf pan with pan spray. Add your batter to the pan and spread it out evenly.
Sprinkle the 1/4 c of remaining chocolate chips on top of your banana bread batter.
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees.
Bake your banana bread for 60-65 minutes or until a tooth pick comes out clean.
Let cool and enjoy!
