Hot cocoa is so easy to make sugar free! This can even be keto friendly if you use all heavy whipping cream or your favorite milk.

I like to mix the almond milk and the heavy whipping cream. All heavy whipping cream is just too rich for me, and the almond milk offsets it a little.

I prefer to use stevia or coconut sugar to sweeten my hot chocolate.

This make 2 larger mugs of hot cocoa. You can easily double or triple it for a crowd. You can also add a little bit of peanut butter or Nutella, cinnamon, peppermint stevia, or even some chili powder. Not all of these are sugar free, so use what's safe for your diet.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups unflavored almond milk
  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons stevia or coconut sugar
  • 1 teaspoon real vanilla extract
Instructions

Whisk the cocoa powder and stevia in a medium sized sauce pan to break up any lumps.
Slowly add the heavy whipping cream 1 tablespoon at a time and continue whisking.
Add the unsweetened almond milk slowly while whisking.
Heat over medium/low heat until hot. Do not let it boil or the heavy whipping cream will form a skin on top.
Remove from heat and add the real vanilla extract.
