This recipe uses fresh rhubarb. But, if you don’t have fresh rhubarb for the Apple Rhubarb Pie Recipe, you can certainly use frozen rhubarb instead. It’s important that you measure the frozen rhubarb when it’s still frozen.
So, usually, when I make apple pie, I use fresh apples. We have lots of apple orchards here in Vermont. And, I love going apple picking.
But, since rhubarb is an early spring crop. And, apples are a late fall crop. There are times when I don’t have both options fresh.
This recipe uses fresh rhubarb. But, if you don’t have fresh rhubarb for the Apple Rhubarb Pie Recipe, you can certainly use frozen rhubarb instead. It’s important that you measure the frozen rhubarb when it’s still frozen.
While I normally keep the added sugar to a minimum with fruit pies, I cannot do that with rhubarb. So, you can try using a stevia and sugar blend if you are trying to watch your sugar.
