I know in the past few months there have been some great coupons for pasta sauce. But you can eat spaghettis only so many times until you are super sick of it.
So here is how I’m utilizing my pasta sauce with a little twist with this EASY Broccoli Calzone Recipe!
Ingredients needed:
- 1 package 10 oz cut/frozen broccoli
- Ricotta Cheese, Part Skim, 15 oz
- Mozzarella, Low-Moisture Part-Skim Shredded, 8 oz
- 1 tablespoon grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tablespoon of Gourmet Garden Basil Paste – (fresh basil out of your own garden is the best option!)
- 2 packages of Pillsbury Refrigerated Pizza Dough
- 2 egg whites
- Barilla Pasta Sauce, 24 fl oz
PREPARATION:
1. Prehead oven to 375Âş.
2. Line 2 cookie sheets with aluminum foil for easy clean-up. Spray the foil with cooking spray.
3. Lay out the Pizza dough and cut into 3 equal rectangles
4. Mix broccoli, ricotta, parmesan, mozzarella, and basil. Add 1/6 of the filling to the dough. You will have enough filling for 2 pizza crusts.
5. Fold dough over the filling. Pinch and use a fork edge to ensure sealing
6. Brush the top with egg white
7. Bake until golden and puffed, 20-25 minutes
8. Serve with your favorite spaghetti sauce (I’ll be using Barilla for a while now since I stocked up at $0.79 per jar!)

My math skills lacking?. If you use three rectangles of dough with 1/6 filling where does the rest of the filling go? These sound great and easy and I’m guessing you need 2 pkgs of pizza dough and repeat.
Some places say "pizza dough" and others clearly state (or show) crescent dough. Number of dough tubes not specified but recipe makes for 6, you cut (unspecified) dough into thirds, and then fill with 1/6 of the filling - so pizza or crescent - 2 tubes? Confusing...but does sound tasty....and easy.
