Healthy & delicious Chicken Shawarma for dinner! My girls just love this Mediterranean delight any day! Usually, we get it from our local eatery but today I made it at home. This particular recipe is so easy, and filling. And it tasted pretty close to the real thing!😍
Traditionally, Chicken shawarma, as you might know is a dish made of marinated chicken, layered on a vertical rotisserie where it's slow-roasted for days to get the deep flavor. After roasting thin slices are cut, served on pita pockets with fresh greens, chopped cucumber, tomatoes and topped with tahini & hot sauce sauce.

Ingredients
- Marination:
- 1 tbsp ground cumin
- 1 tbsp turmeric powder
- 1 tbsp coriander powder
- 1 tbsp onion powder
- 2 tbsp crushed fresh garlic
- 1/2 tbsp paprika
- 1/2 tsp cayenne
- Salt to taste
- 1 Tbsp lemon juice
- 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 8 boneless, skinless chicken thighs, thinly sliced
Other ingredients:
- 1 sliced red onion
- 2 thinly sliced bell peppers
Instructions
- 🥙Add all the marinating ingredients in a bowl & mix well then add the chicken, onion & bell peppers.
- 🥙Mix well & marinate for 4 hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
- 🥙When you are ready to bake preheat the oven at 425F.
- 🥙Pull the chicken out of refrigerator & keep it at room temperature for 30 minutes before baking.
- 🥙Spread the chicken & veggies in one layer on a greased pan & bake for 25-35 minutes.
- 🥙Broil few minutes in the end to get the charred look.
- 🥙Serve it with saffron flavored rice pilaf or pita bread, fresh toppings or cucumber salad & tahini sauce. Enjoy!
