Stuffed Mushroom Appetizers With Italian Sausage
One of my favorite appetizers that are big hit are stuffed mushrooms with Italian sausage! I have made this with both sweet and hot ground Italian sausage if you want a little kick.
Start off by coring washing the mushroom heads with a spoon. I put some of the insides to the side to use for the stuffing.
Pat dry with paper towels.
Chop up 1/2 an onion and sauté with the mushroom steams for 10 minutes with 3 cloves of crushed garlic.
Add the ground Italian sausage and cook for 10 minutes until browned.
Add 1/2 a cup of bread crumbs and 1/2 package of cream cheese. Cook for another 5 minutes stirring.
Stuff the mushroom heads using a spoon and bake in the oven for 15 minutes.
They are so good as an appetizer, my guests always love them! Serve with a spoon to get all the juices!

Ingredients
- 3 gloves crushed garlic
- 1/2 chopped onion
- large container of white mushrooms
- 1 package sweet or spicy ground Italian Sausage
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1/2 package cream cheese
- salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- core and wash mushroom heads then pat dry
- in a pan, sauté chopped garlic, onion and some of the mushroom steams
- add Italian sausage and cook until golden brown (approx. 5 min)
- add bread crumbs and cream cheese and cook for another couple minutes stirring
- stuff mushroom heads using a spoon
- stick in the oven at 400 degrees for 10 minutes
