Strawberry Chia Seed Jam Recipe

Below, you will find an easy to follow step by step recipe to make your own jam. This recipe makes 16 ounces, perfect to fill 2 – 8oz jars, or 4 – 4oz jars to gift!

INGREDIENTS:

  • fresh strawberries
  • honey
  • chia seeds

INSTRUCTIONS:

  1. Heat a medium saucepan over medium heat and add your strawberries.
  2. Once the berries have softened, use a potato masher to break up the strawberry pieces. (Mash as much or as little as you would like, the more you mash the less chunks you’ll have)
  3. Let the mixture come to a slow boil, stirring almost continually.
  4. Once you see some bubbles break the surface, add the honey and mix.
  5. Once bubbles break the surface once again, add the chia seeds and lower temperature to low heat. (The chia seeds will help the mix achieve a thicker jam-like texture without the need to add pectin)
  6. Continue stirring the mixture over low heat for about 15 minutes, and then remove the pot from the stove.
  7. Pour the mixture into a mason jar and cover it tightly with a lid.

NOTES:
While hot, the jam may seem more fluid than you would expect. The chia seeds need a bit of time to thicken your jam, so let the jar cool to room temperature then store it in the fridge and it will achieve that perfect jam consistency.
