Fried rice is a dish of cooked rice that has been stir-fried in a wok or a frying pan and is usually mixed with other ingredients such as eggs, vegetables, seafood, or meat. It is often eaten by itself or as an accompaniment to another dish. Fried rice is a quick and delicious way to transform leftovers into something delicious! Though we sometimes think of certain ingredients being typical (eggs, garlic) the only thing you need to make fried rice is heat, rice, and oil. Anything else you add is up to you.

Ingredients

Preparation of Rice

  • Boil one glass of rice and remove all the water
  • 3 tbsp. sesame oil/ regular oilive oil
  • 3 large eggs (optional)
  • 3 onions, thinly sliced, white
  • 1 spoon garlic and ginger paste
  • cooked long grain rice (preferably leftover)
  • 3/4 cup frozen peas, carrot, corn
  • 3 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp hot sauce
  • salt
  • Pepper

Instructions

Making Fried Rice

Heat the pan for over high heat until very hot, about 2 minutes.
Add oil, mix veggies, onion, stir well for 4-5 minutes
Cook until lightly golden, about 2 minutes.
Add garlic and ginger and cook, stirring, until fragrant, 1 minute.
Add rice, cooked eggs (optional)
Pour in soy sauce, hot sauce, salt pepper and cook, stirring until heated through, 1 minute.
Season with basil leaves/coriander/spring onions !

Tips

  • Add chicken if you want to along with the vegetables
  • high flame in wok makes good rice
