Have you ever had ramen growing up? Or maybe you just started popping into those Ramen shops in your city. Either way, this is a tribute to one of the easiest meals I ever cooked as a teenager. RAMEN! Now a-days we get fancy with our ramen...hence the title :). I like adding in veggies and protein with the addition of soft boiled eggs! Yum! Ready?! Let's do this!

This it it! Probably the cheapest meal you could buy! I buy them in bulk so they are super cheap and we go through them so it makes more sense. They cost about $.22 a package. We go with the chicken flavor since its the most mellow flavor they have and who doesn't like chicken stock...well maybe my vegetarian/vegan friends ;)

The soft boiled eggs is literally a game changer. The running yolk gives the soup in the dish a creamy luxurious texture.

The fun part about this dish is that you can add any type of meat and veggies you like. If you're vegetarian, use tofu; if you like beef, use steak. The list goes on and on. I really think any veggie you normally cook can go into this meal and you can just go with one veggie as well. If you really like mushrooms, I would do a mixed mushroom medley.

  • 1 package of instant ramen
  • 1 large soft boiled egg
  • 1/2 cup chopped veggies of your choice (I used carrots, peppers, onions and cabbage)
  • 3 Tbsp. Teriyaki sauce
  • Sprinkle of Chili powder or Cayenne for more heat
  • 1/3 cup meat of your choice (I used shrimp seasoned with teriyaki sauce)
  • 1 Tbsp. butter
  • Cooking spray

Spray a medium pot with cooking spray and cook the veggies, meat and 1 Tbsp. Teriyaki sauce until fully cooked. Set aside in a large bowl. Cook the ramen according to the package direction, but with only 1/2 the seasoning packet. Combine the ramen with the veggies and meat. Add the remaining Teriyaki sauce, butter and chili powder. Slice the soft boiled egg in half and place it on top. Depending on how soupy you want this dish your add or take away the liquid. Now Enjoy!

    Sounds good and easy. Your seasonings are enough to me. I never use the flavor packet included with the noodles since it is loaded with msg. MSG is hidden in many foods, they just call it different names.
