Tips & Tricks For The Best Oatmeal:

Here are some simple and helpful hacks to make the best oatmeal:

  • If you don’t have liners for your slow cooker, you can just use oil. Using liners is helpful for a quick clean up and I prefer them.
  • If you are extremely affected by gluten, I recommend making sure you use oats that are labeled gluten-free, if oats don’t contain it.
  • You may not care for extra fiber from the skin of the apples, so if you decide, you can peel the apples.
  • This recipe works best for a 7-quart slow cooker.
  • It is normal for skin to show up in the slow cooker, to get rid of this, just mix it up!
  • If you are feeding a bunch of people, you will need to double the recipe.

Do You Have To Use Steel Cut Oatmeal?

Yes! It is a must to use steel-cut oats! They take the longest to cook which makes the perfect for overnight oats. Using quick oats/rolled oats will get too mushy if left in the slow cooker for too long.
