With mixed greens, tomatoes and green olives!

The most delicious honey mustard baked salmon you will ever have! Amazing flavor, plus–minimal preparation and ingredients means dinner is ready in 30 minutes!

I’m so excited about this recipe because it is literally the best salmon I’ve ever made! I tried out a couple of other baked honey mustard salmon recipes and was a little disappointed. I took matters into my own hands and came up with my own recipe and have struck gold. The flavor is amazing. The ingredients are simple. And it only takes just over 10 minutes to bake in the oven. You can have this on the table in under 30 minutes. I served mine on top of greens with marinated onions, tomatoes and green olives. The combination was absolutely perfect. Let’s make honey mustard salmon!

Ingredients for honey mustard salmon

  • Salmon: I get mine from butcher box and it’s always perfect. It comes individually portioned which makes it easy to just take out what I need from the freezer. This recipe is for 2 individual portions but you can easily double the amount of the marinade to serve more.
  • Honey mustard: I have found that I prefer the flavor of the store-bought honey mustard over adding honey to whole grain or dijon mustard.
  • Oil: I use avocado, but olive or canola oil would work too.
  • Spices: salt, pepper, garlic power and paprika

What to serve it with

I served my salmon on a bed of greens with tomatoes, green olives and marinated onions. This was a super delicious combination. Salty, savory and a little bit sweet. I dressed the greens lightly with a squeeze of lemon, drizzle of oil, salt and pepper. Super simple and the perfect balance of flavor for this salmon.

How to make it

Honey mustard salmon

To make this dish, simply whisk together the oil, honey mustard and spices. Then place the two filets in a baking dish, skin side down. Then rub the honey mustard mixture all over the top and sides of the salmon pieces.

Then the salmon goes into a 375 degree oven for 10-12 minutes.

While the salmon bakes, assemble the salads

You can of course make just the salmon and serve it with whatever sides you prefer but I love it on top of greens with marinated onions on top. While the salmon is baking, add greens to each plate, along with some chopped tomatoes and green olives.

I like to lightly dress the greens with a little lemon juice and a drizzle of avocado oil before adding the salmon and marinated onions.

Marinated onions

Marinated onions are basically pickled onions, the only difference is oil. So basically you marinate onion slices in a salad dressing! This tones down the pungency of the onions, making them a perfect addition to this baked salmon. They are also great on burgers, sandwiches and tacos too.
