Tips for Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats

Is peanut butter safe for dogs?

Xylitol, a sweetener used in many foods, including peanut butter, yogurt, toothpaste and chewing gum, is safe for humans but  potentially deadly for dogs. If ingested, it can cause seizures, liver failure and death. Make sure there is no xylitol in the peanut butter you are using.

What peanut butter contains xylitol?

Peanut butter brands that contain xylitol include Go Nuts, Co., Krush Nutrition, Nuts’N More and P28 Foods.

Is pumpkin safe for dogs?

Both canned and fresh pumpkin is safe for dogs. In fact, it has many health benefits. Pumpkin has high fiber and water content, which are good for correcting and preventing constipation in dogs, plus can help bulk up your dog’s stool. Too much however, could be toxic. Limit your dogs daily serving to just a few teaspoons per day. The amount of pumpkin in this recipe is safe for your dog.
