Edible Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough. In our house all cookie dough is edible, but this is the safe way to do it. The extra step of browning the butter takes this dough over the top. Doesn’t brown butter always seem to do that? I have used this edible cookie dough for truffles as well as chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream. It is also good just straight out of the bowl. Now that I have one batch under my belt (literally) I have some ideas of other flavors I am going to experiment with soon. Stay tuned for some fun flavors!

Recipe details
Ingredients
- 1 cup all purpose flour
- ½ cup unsalted butter, browned
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ¼ cup granulated sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1-2 tablespoons whole milk
- 6 ounces bittersweet chocolate, coarsely chopped
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350ºF. Spread the flour in an even layer on a sheet tray and place in the oven for about 5-7 minutes. The heat will kill any bacteria.
- In the bowl of an electric mixer, mix the sugars, brown butter and vanilla on medium speed until well combined. Add the salt and the flour. Mix until just combined. Add milk a little bit at a time to reach a dough consistency. Mix in chocolate chips. Store dough in the refrigerator.
