These Chewy Maple Chocolate Chip + Apple cookies are perfect when you want a sweet treat with the best flavors of the fall! I especially love making these when I’m having guests over or even just for a cozy night at home! I love a classic chocolate chip cookie, but these chewy and perfectly spiced cookies are such a perfect autumn twist that you have to try them out! They are soft in the center, slightly crispy around the edges and perfectly sweet thanks to all natural maple syrup and coconut sugar. Ingredients

  • 2 sticks (1 cup butter) softened
  • 1 cup coconut sugar or dark brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1 egg, room temperature*
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp almond extract
  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup chopped dried apples, the soft kind
Instructions

Preheat the oven to 350° F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large mixing bowl, beat together the butter and coconut sugar until combined. Beat in the maple syrup, tahini, egg, vanilla and almond extract, beating until creamy. Sift in the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Fold in chocolate chips and dried apples.
Scoop the dough using a portion scoop place about 2 inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Press the cookies down slightly.
Bake for 8 minutes. Remove the pan from the oven and tap the baking sheet on the counter a few times to flatten them down. Return to the oven and bake another 2 minutes or until the cookies are just beginning to set on the edges, but still doughy in the center.
Remove from the oven and let the cookies cool on the baking sheet before serving.
Tips
  • You can quickly get the egg to room temperature by placing it in a bowl of warm/hot water for a few minutes.
