Hi There,

Todays recipe post comes with a little story. Looking back, 17 years ago we had a fifteen year old daughter in the hospital that had received a new heart. The new heart would not start working and she had been laying their on Echmo for too long. It wasn’t supposed to be that way. the new heart was supposed to give her the life she needed. Previous to this her organs had shut down and she was put on a heart machine, she was one of very few children able to go home on it at that time. It was like a big suitcase and a tube ran from the machine to her heart. We were so thankful for that machine, it gave us our daughter. She hated it as you can imagine being an almost 15 year old.

Her new heart she received was not working and the doctors ran out of hope you could see it in their eyes. Her surgeon was going in one last time the next morning to clean up around the heart again, it kept filling with fluid. As we seen her that night her chest wide open her body swollen to almost unrecognizable, we knew we couldn’t keep begging God to keep her here for us. So that night my hubby praying for us through tears telling God if he needed her to just give us the grace to get through it, and to give her peace. We thought all along we had already given her to him but we realized that night we hadn’t. I remember the peace i felt after we prayed I knew God truly was in control. The next morning as we waited to hear how the surgery went, all of a sudden the surgeon came through the door with the biggest smile on his face and told us “we have a super bowl miracle”. Yes her new heart just started beating perfectly!!

So to get to the recipe we obviously celebrate this day. She loves chocolate and cheesecake and cherries so I combined all three and it came out wonderful!

First I took two throw away pans and bent them onto heart shapes. I just used a box brownie mix for the base chocolate layer. I followed the directions on the pan it was for an 8″x8″ pan. I divided the batter between the two pans. It made just the right thickness for the base layer.

I used parchment paper so I could peel the brownie layers off to display on a cake plate.

For the cream cheese layer I did a couple of different mixtures. I will share with you the one that worked best. I just mixed all of the cheesecake ingredients together with a mixer and then layered that on top of the brownie layer.

After that I layered on a can of cherry pie filling. You could make your own, for times sake I used a can.

There is none left, that is how good it was. Let me know if you will try this recipe and pleas share your pics with me.
