Although I’m also a big fan of these trendy, fancy pies such as the iconic pumpkin one, I still claim that there is nothing better than the traditional grandma-style apple pie. Although the internet is full of all sorts of apple pie recipes, I felt that it was important for me to I share my grandmother’s version, because there are as many apple pie recipes as many families. This is an incredibly simple and easy dish to make even for those who don’t know anything about baking. Furthermore, it can also be a nice and festive program if you gather together with your friends to bake this delicious apple pie.

Ingredients

  • - 5-6 apples, peeled and grated
  • - 1 Tbsp. honey
  • - 1 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • - 1 Tbsp. butter
  • For the crust:
  • - 250 g (2 cups plus 1 tbsp) of flour
  • - 50 g (1/4 cup) of powder sugar
  • - 1 Tbsp. vanilla sugar
  • - 1 Tbsp. baking powder
  • - 1 egg
  • - 125 g (1 stick plus 1 tbsp) of margarine/butter
  • - + egg for egg wash, butter and flour
Instructions

1. Preheat oven to 180C. Prepare your pie dish by buttering and flouring it.
2. In a medium saucepan mix the ingredients for the filling, cook on medium heat while we prepare the crust.
3. For the crust mix all the ingredient using your hand. Seperate it into two parts. On a floured surface roll out one part of the dough. Place it into the dish, it’s okay if it breaks, just make sure you fill all the gap. Add the apple on top. Then roll out the other half and cut it into any form you’d like to decorate your pie with. Place it on the top of the apple, don’t forget to egg wash.
4. Bake for 30 minutes.
