Ham and Walnut Cheeseball
This time of year we are making all the dips and cheese balls for the holidays. This is a recipe we have made for years. I first had it at my bridal shower and asked for the recipe. We have been making it for gatherings every since. Make sure to soften the cream cheese first it helps with the mixing. I just leave mine out on the counter for a couple of hours before making it. You mix the sour cream and cream cheese in a bowl and then add in the other ingredients. I roll mine in crushed walnuts or pecans. It just makes it look pretty and I love the texture and flavor they add to the recipe. I use dried mince onion that is a must to get the right flavor combination. You can use any ham but I think the cheaper packaged ham is always the best with this cheese ball. I have tried many different types of ham and always come back to the packaged cheap stuff. I like it best served with specialty crackers but you can use a baguette or nacho chips too. My favorite is the chicken flavored crackers.
I serve it with crackers.
