Cinnamon Buttercream Frosting
This is an old recipe my husbands grandmother used to make and I had forgotten about it. It is so simple just to add a little something extra to a frosting recipe to completely change it up. I made this and put it on my banana bars and it tasted wonderful. I make sure the butter is softened I leave it on the counter overnight. You start by creaming the butter until it is almost a whipped consistency then you add in your confectioners sugar, vanilla and cinnamon. I use just a whisk to do this but you can use an electric mixer. Just be careful not to whip it too much. After everything is added I mix it up until I get the consistency I want. It is that simple, I spread it onto my bars and they tasted wonderful. I made this for a cinnamon chocolate cake too and it was perfect. It can be used for any cookies that require frosting or my grandchildren love to spread it between two graham crackers for a filling.
It does change the color of the frosting to a more beige color. I added a little more sprinkles of cinnamon on top to let everyone know what was in it.
Make sure your butter is soft, that makes a huge difference in your consistency.
I use a whisk to cream it all together but you use what works best for you.
Then I add the powdered sugar.
And whisk until you like it.
I frosted the bars and of course the hubby had to try them.
