Cream Cheese Tunnel Cake

This recipe is so moist and delicious. I t is my family's new favorite. Add the extra addition of sour cream really makes the cake so moist. It is a mixture of cheesecake and chocolate cake which is a wonderful combination. I just use a cake mix and add in the addition of two heaping tablespoons of sour cream to the ingredients on the box. For the tunnel filling it is a mixture of cream cheese, vanilla, sugar and egg. After mixing up the cake mixture I poured half of the batter in the pan and layered the cheesecake mixture on top and then cover with the other half of the cake batter. Bake in the oven and then let cool completely. I used a can frosting but you can use homemade if you like. I just had a can in the pantry and decided to use it. I warmed it up in the microwave for two minutes and then poured it over the cake. I then sprinkle it with confectioners sugar all over.

It looks so pretty when all done. The addition of the confectioners sugar and the spilling over of the frosting is what makes it.

Mix your cake according tot the box and add in the sour cream.

Grease and flour your bundt pan.

Ingredients
Cake mixture
  • 1 Box chocolate cake mix
  • 2 heaping tablespoons sour cream
Tunnel filling
  • 1/2 C granulated sugar
  • 1 Egg
  • 2 t vanilla extract
  • 2 Packages of cream cheese, 16 ounces, softened.
Instructions
Cake mixture
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.Mix cake mixture according to the directions on the box.
Add in the sour cream and mix together according for 3 minutes.
Pour half into greased and floured bundt pan.
Add cream cheese mix on top of that.
Cover with remaining cake mix.
Bake for approximately 50-55 minutes.
Top with your choice of frosting and sprinkle with confectioners sugar.
For cream cheese tunnel
Cream together all ingredients.
Pour carefully on to the first layer of cake mixture in the pan.
Tips
  • You can use homemade or canned frosting.
