Lemon Glazed Blackberry Turnovers

It’s berry season, people! In our house that means baked berry goodies. We made batch of our Lemon Glazed Blackberry Turnovers to satisfy our bakery cravings the other weekend. After we made our Raspberry Lemon Scones we could not stop wanting more baked goods. Oh man, we we’re very content after eating about a dozen of these. We couldn’t stop from slapping on some more lemon gaze and eating another. Next time we’ll make two batches so we don’t run out so quickly again!
My grandfather’s favorite breakfast, snack, and dessert is an apple turnover. Flaky on the outside with a gooey sweet inside. Every time I go back to New York I pop into my favorite bakery grab a few turnovers and head out to his house. We untie the string and eat them up with a hot cup of joe as we catch up. Since apple season isn’t here quite yet, we decided to use the fresh berries from the market instead.
You can certainly take a stab at making your own puff pastry for these Lemon Glazed Blackberry Turnovers OR you can just grab some from the store. While I would love to make my own every time, busy times call for pre-made puff pastry. The ingredients are so simple and fresh. It really packs in the natural flavors of the berries and honey to savor in each bite.
Phillip and I have been trying to make our weekend brunch at home more exciting. These baked goods are doing just that! While an omelet or stack of pancakes are great, making pastries lets us save them for dessert later on if we don’t end up licking the plate. So let’s be honest, these turnovers never actually make it to dessert. But just in case!
From our kitchen to yours, cheers!
