  • 2 - 1/2 teaspoons yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 4 - 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/3 cup + 1 tablespoon warm water
  • 1 - 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

In the bowl of a stand mixer with the dough attachment, add the yeast, the 1 cup of warm water and 1 tablespoon of sugar together. (You can use a normal mixing bowl then choose to knead with your hands instead)
Let the yeast mixture sit for about 15 minutes.
Add the rest of the ingredients, start by adding 4 cups of flour, warm water, salt, sugar and melted butter and start to mix together.
If the mixture is still wet, add the last 1/2 cup of flour.
Knead for about 10 minutes.
Add the dough to a lightly oiled bowl, cover and place in a warm environment for an hour.
Take out the dough and shape it into a rectangle by tucking in the edges.
Add to the loaf pan and cover again for an hour.
Preheat the oven to 375°F/190°C.
Bake the bread for 45 minutes, until the top is golden.
Add some more melted butter and salt on top (optional).
Let the loaf sit on a wire rack until slightly cooled before slicing.
