Ooops we did it again… We can’t stay away from this impossible meat! It is the perfect meat substitute especially for burgers, so we decided to make an impossible meat southwest burger. The flavors and seasonings are combined perfectly for the BEST southwest burger we’ve ever had. If you created this burger for a carnivore friend, they wouldn’t be able to tell if it was ground beef or not. In fact, they might actually prefer this substitute because its holds the seasonings better than normal ground beef. Trust us, we’ve tried.

The draws, for us, to Impossible meat are simple and revolve around flavor. So after doing my own research into Impossible meat 2.0 I realize they’ve actually cut down the sodium amount from their previous burger. It’s now lower sodium than 80/20 beef. The real draw, that Val and I later found, was the ability for it to hold flavor. We found that when you throw spices and seasonings into the Impossible meat, it actually holds onto those flavors.

Among the many jobs I had while putting myself through college, and then some, was that of bartender. I worked for many different restaurants and learned many things from each one about cooking. My favorite place I worked was a burger joint that made a southwest burger. I loved the flavors and the idea behind it, but I always wanted a bit more. Whenever I have something that’s good, I always try to make it better. Some of the time it doesn’t work and the recipe comes out worse than what I had, and then other times it succeeds. In this case with our Impossible Meat Southwest Burger , our recipe succeeded!

From our kitchen to yours, cheers!
