tacos are a great dish, but i like to have them the right way. that means with a soft grilled tortillas bread and homemade pepper sauce. i know that many of you enjoy the crunchy yellow tortillas tacos kit. which it comes with almost everything and you just add the ground beef and the vegies. it's fast and convenient i admit that!! but wait!! my recipe is fast and convenient too. i spent less then one hour to make it plus everything was homemade!! this recipe is based on shrimp but the sauce is a perfect match with chicken or beef as well. feel free to substitute the protein by the one you prefer the most. the sauce is made with the dried California chili pepper that you soak in the hot water for 20 minutes before blending with the other ingredients.

in a Taco, the sauce is the most important ingredient. so take your time and make this tacos the best meal in the week.

as you can see, i used fresh pepper and the California chili pepper (the dry red ones) two pieces were enough to make a sauce for 4 people. it's called chili but don't worry they are sweet. if you prefer the spicy ones buy them instead.

after soaking the peppers, i blended them with the other ingredients in a food processor or a blender and i get this beautiful red color. very appetizing? isn't it?

i grilled the shrimp, but you can just use your top stove and sautee them in a skillet.

before serving, i heated the tortillas on the grill until they start to poof, i removed them and started filling with my ingredients. first cheese, cabbage salad, avocado, shrimp, sauce, mayo and some fresh parsley leaves. i always like to sprinkle some more cheese at the end, just because it looks prettier.

i added some basil leaves and some shives just beacause i had them in my garden and my family like the fresh herbs.
