Candied carrots are also called sweet carrots and you can make them a variety of ways depending on the equipment you have and the ingredients you have on hand.


Today we will cover one main recipe and then I will give you a couple of different tools that you can use, including using your slow cooker and instant pot.

Candied Carrots Ingredients

  • 3 cups carrots, sliced
  • 1/3 cup butter, melted
  • 1/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt, to taste
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1-2 teaspoons dried thyme

Well, since they are sweet, I like to create a savory dish to go with it.

How To Make Candied Carrots

  1. Preheat oven to 375F
  2. In an ovenproof dish, toss the carrots with the melted butter, then season with the brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg,and thyme.
  3. Bake carrots for 25-35 minutes, stirring approximately every 10 minutes until cooked to your personal preference.

Can I Make This In My Instant Pot?

Yes! Whenever we have to get dinner on the table quickly, I always look to fast and easy recipes. This recipe is already easy, but the Instant Pot makes it a recipe that I do not have to look at. I can focus on the main course.


Instant Pot Directions:

  1. When it reads hot: add butter and allow to melt
  2. Turn off the Instant Pot
  3. Add Brown sugar
  4. Stir
  5. Add Carrots and stir. Be sure to coat the carrots
  6. Add 3 / 4 cup of water
  7. Close Lid and set to manual for 3 minutes
  8. Do a Quick Pressure Release and serve
