Crispy Gochujang Brussels Sprouts

These brussels sprouts are sweet, spicy, and perfectly tender. The sweetness, spiciness, and savory flavors of the gochujang bring this dish to the next level. If you prefer more sweetness you could add honey, more saltiness add soy sauce, or for more spice add sriracha.


Although it takes longer than throwing them in the air-fryer, roasting them in an oven provides such a delicious texture. Mine did turn out a bit crispy but that's how I prefer them (you can always cook yours less!).


I like recommend serving these as a side dish to accompany Korean chicken or tofu based dishes but they're great on their own too.

Ingredients

  • 1lb brussels sprouts
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup gochujang
  • 1 tbsp sesame oil
  • 1/4 cup tamari or soy sauce
  • 2 tbsp honey or syrup
  • black & white sesame seeds to garnish
Instructions

Heat oven to 400F
Trim the ends of the brussels sprouts and slice lengthwise
Toss with olive oil then bake them face down on a lined baking sheet for 10 minutes
While the brussels sprouts are baking, prepare the gochujang sauce by combining gochujang, sesame oil, tamari, and honey using a whisk
Flip the brussels sprouts to be face-up, then brush them with the gochujang mix
Bake for an additional 10-20 minutes
Toss in the remaining sauce if you prefer them saucier and garnish with sesame seeds
