One of the benefits of growing your own herbs is the ability to use them in many of your foods and drinks. Come learn how to use the sun and sprigs of peppermint for this refreshing summer drink.

In addition to my patio herb garden, I also planted herbs in some of my other flower beds. In the front yard, I added a couple of peppermint plants as ground cover. So far they’re doing really well.

Recently, while studying different uses for herbs, I came across several recipes for making peppermint tea. As a tea lover, I thought this would be something I’d like, so I decided to give it a try.

Here’s How to Make Peppermint Tea

Fill a jar with filtered water. You can use any size jar you’d like.

I chose a pint jar for mine.

Add several sprigs of fresh cut peppermint to the jar.

Then add 1-2 tea bags and secure the lid.

Depending on the size of your jar, you may need more peppermint and tea.

Then you allow the jar to sit outside for 24 hours.

Powered by the sun and the moon, all the work is done for you.

After 24 hours, my peppermint tea was just right for me.

You can leave it out longer if you like your tea a little darker.

This old-fashioned mint tea has so many benefits and is easily made from fresh mint out of the garden.

Paired with your favorite sweetener, it’s such a fun treat on a hot summer day 🙂
