Sweet Hot Pepper Jelly Recipe
How to make a sweet hot pepper jelly recipe. This is a canning recipe, so you can preserve your summer harvest for up to a year.
My family loves this sweet hot pepper jelly recipe. We usually have it as an appetizer or with chips, but it's also good in recipes. I have several ways to use it for cooking on my how to make hot pepper jelly canning recipe post.
This is a canning recipe, so you'll need to know the basics of canning. However, I also talk about how to sterilize jars in the post.
I used low sugar Sure Gel. The only way to make this low sugar is to use that box of pectin. If you use regular pectin, this recipe will not work because the pectin will not set up.
This hot pepper jelly will last from 1 to 2 years on the shelf. Store it in a cool and dry location.

Recipe details
Ingredients
- 2 lg. red bell peppers
- 2 lg. green bell peppers (can use yellow or orange sweet peppers if you wish, either in combo with or instead of green peppers)
- 5 jalapeno peppers (add additional jalapenos if you prefer extra hot)
- ½ c. apple cider vinegar
- ½ c. water
- 3 c. granulated sugar
- 1 box low sugar Sure Gel
Instructions
- Remove all seeds from the jalapenos. Wear plastic gloves when doing this, as they can burn your skin. Rinse out any remaining seeds under cold water.
- Chop all peppers into very small pieces with a knife.
- Place chopped peppers into a large pot. Add ¼c. of the granulated sugar and the pectin to the peppers. Stir. Add in the water and vinegar.
- Bring to a full rolling boil, then add in the remaining sugar and stir. Return to a boil and boil for one minute.
- Ladle into the prepared jars. Clean off any jelly that may have gotten onto the rims. Place lid discs onto the jars and screw on the jar rings. Place jars into a large pot of hot water. Be sure the rack or upside down pan is still in the pot for the jars to sit on.
- Cover the pot with a lid and bring to a boil. Boil for 10 minutes, then remove jars to cool on your counter overnight to thicken.

I love this stuff!! I have not tried the low sugar Sure Gel, but will next time. Cream cheese and this on crackers, or mixed into my peas, yum. It doesn't las long once a jar is opened.
Hello : I have a question- Is the Sure Gel the same as Knox Gel ?
this sounds really good and love the fact that it will last longer then a few weeks :)😃
