Two words…bacon.jam! Bacon Jam is a sweet and savory indulgent treat that will leave your taste buds screaming for more. While not on any diet plan, bacon jam is an amazing addition to jazz up any meal or snack.


Sautéing onions, garlic and bacon together create an abundance of savory flavors.

Adding the brown sugar, maple syrup and whiskey to the bacon, and simmering it on low for 30-45 minutes creates a caramelized, Smokey sweetness that can not be beat.

After cooking, simply blend the cooked bacon jam in a high powered blender until a thick jam has formed.

Bacon Jam can made ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks.

So the next time you throw a party or barbecue, take it to the next level with bacon jam! It is the perfect addition to any dips, sandwiches or grilled meat!

Ingredients

  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 large sweet onion, diced
  • 1 tbsp minced garlic
  • 1lb bacon
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup whiskey
  • salt and pepper to taste
Instructions

Heat butter in a large cast iron skillet over medium heat
Cook onions and garlic for about 5-8 minutes until soften and slightly brown
Add bacon and cook until fat is rendered out, about 5 minutes
Add the remaining ingredients and bring to a boil for about 1 minute
Reduce to a simmer and cook, stirring occasionally for about 15-45 minutes or until sauce is reduced and the bacon/sauce is a rich dark brown color
Cool completely, drain extra liquid and then transfer to a food processor. Pulse until well chopped, but not pasty.
Tips
  • Store in a air tight container such as a mason jar for up to 3 weeks
