Made with just 4 ingredients, this Chipotle Lime Sauce is a smoky, tangy little concoction that works as a dip, dressing, marinade, or sauce. This dressing really can do it all!

One of my life/food mantras is “everything is better with sauce”. And while I’ve never actually said that out loud to anyone before, I’ve definitely thought it a multitude of times.

One of my absolute favorite foods are tacos, or anything taco related. And nothing elevates a taco like a good sauce. This lime chipotle sauce is just a little bit out of the ordinary, but incredibly simple to whip up and absolutely delicious. Try it the next time you make tacos or taco salad and you won’t be disappointed!

This sauce takes about 5 minutes to make and doesn’t require any cooking. It stays good for about 4 days in the fridge.

Ingredients
CHIPOTLE LIME SAUCE
  • 1/2 CUP MAYONNAISE
  • 1/4 CUP SOUR CREAM
  • 1/2 - 1 TABLESPOON FRESH LIME JUICE
  • 1-2 CHIPOTLE IN ADOBE PEPPERS
  • SALT AND PEPPER
Instructions
TO MAKE CHIPOTLE LIME SAUCE
MAKE A CHIPOTLE PASTE:
HOLD THE NON-SHARP SIDE OF YOUR KNIFE IN BOTH HANDS AND USE THE SHARP SIDE TO PRESS AND SCRAPE THE PEPPERS AND SALT TOGETHER. USING THE KNIFE, BRING THE PEPPERS BACK INTO ONE PILE AND REPEAT THE PROCESS UNTIL YOU HAVE A RELATIVELY EVEN AND SMOOTH PASTE.
IN A SMALL BOWL, MIX TOGETHER MAYONNAISE, SOUR CREAM, LIME JUICE, AND CHIPOTLE PEPPERS.
SERVE WITH VEGGIES OR CHIPS, OR USE AS A SAUCE FOR TACOS OR TACO SALAD.
Tips
  • ALWAYS START WITH LESS PEPPERS THAN YOU THINK YOU’LL NEED AND TASTE AND ADJUST AS YOU GO. YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD MORE, BUT YOU CAN’T TAKE IT AWAY ONCE IT’S IN THERE.
  • YOU CAN MAKE THE SAUCE IN A FOOD PROCESSOR - JUST ADD ALL THE INGREDIENTS, AND PROCESS UNTIL SMOOTH.
  • SAUCE KEEPS FOR 3-4 DAYS IN THE FRIDGE, AND WILL THICKEN AS IT SITS. THIN THE SAUCE OUT WITH A TEASPOON OR TWO OF WATER.
