This is a traditional South Indian recipe which is made very easy and quick. The main ingredient is coconut. The rest of the ingredients will always be at home. This can be consumed with hot plain rice with a spoon of Desi ghee, or with Dosa, idli, chapati. Can be served with curd rice too.

Very very 😋 😋 tasty.


Come lets start!!

Take a pan and heat it with one soon of Sesame oil.

Now add two tablespoons of black gram (Udad dal) and start roasting.

Start roasting it till turns into slight brown colour.

Now add two tablespoons of Bengal gram (chana dal) and roast it along with black gram.

Now add 4 to 5 round chillies ( you can add them according to your taste) ☺️

Roast everything together till the colour turns into golden brown.

Now add one lemon size tamarind into it. And continue to roast it.

Add handful of crushed curry leaves. You can add fresh curry leaves too.

Then comes the main ingredient. The king of this recipe icon icon 🥥 Coconut. Dice the coconut and add it in. Roast everything together.

Add salt.

Turn off the flame.

Allow it to cool.

Once it comes to room temperature, transfer it into a mixie jar and grind it.

Add a little bit of water, may be two to three tablespoons and make it a thick paste.

Tadaa!! Tasty tasty coconut Thuvayal is ready to be served.

Ingredients

  • 1 big size coconut
  • 2 tablespoons of oil
  • 2 tablespoons of black gram
  • 2 tablespoons of Bengal gram
  • One handful of Curry leaves
  • One teaspoon of Salt
  • One lemon size tamarind
Instructions
Process
Heat the pan
Add two tablespoons of oil
Add two tablespoons of Black gram
Roast it.
Add two tablespoons of Bengal gram
Roast
Add one lemon size Tamarind
Continue roasting it
Add one handful of Curry leaves
Now add Chopped Coconut 🥥
Finally add one teaspoon of Salt.
Roast everything together till it turns to golden brown colour.
Put off the flame.
Allow it to cool.
Transfer it into a mixie jar.
Add two to three tablespoons of water and grind it.
And make a thick paste.
Transfer it into a serving bowl 🥣.
Enjoy with hot rice with a spoon of ghee ( this is the best)
Tips
  • If you like little sweet need you can add one spoon of jaggery powder.
