What is the Key to Making Fudgy Brownies?

For the perfect fudgy brownies, never use a raising agent like baking powder or soda; instead opt for the dense texture of no-leavening recipes.

I feel that beating the eggs for a longer period of time adds to the fudgy texture of the brownie as well.

Also make sure to measure your flour carefully, as using too much can end in a dry brownie!

In addition keep an eye on cooking time – 28 to 33 minutes is usually long enough. Make sure not to over bake by testing with a skewer or a toothpick (you’ll want some moist sticky bits attached!)

Fudgy Brownie Ingredients

These brownies are simple to make and can be whipped together in a matter of minutes.

Plus this recipe uses basic ingredients you probably already have in your pantry.

Grandma’s recipes are simply the best!

To make the best fudgy brownie recipe you’ll need butter, sugar, eggs, vanilla, salt, cocoa powder, flour and chocolate chips.

You’ll also need a mixer to cream the butter and sugar.

How to Make Fudgy Brownies

Step 1. Cream Butter and Sugar

First you’ll cream the butter and sugar together until it’s well incorporated.

Because of the sugar to butter ratio, the mixture will appear granulated.

Step 2. Add Eggs and Beat

Add the eggs and vanilla extract to the creamed butter and sugar and beat for 2 minutes.

Beating the mixture gives this fudgy brownie recipe just the right texture and a lovely sheen on the crust of the brownie.

Step 3. Add Dry Ingredients

I first like to add the salt and cocoa powder to the creamed egg mixture and beat well.

Then add the flour and mix at a low speed, just until it’s incorporated.

The brownie batter will be very thick.

Step 4. Fold in Chocolate Chips

To make this fudgy brownie recipe truly indulgent, I like to add 1/2 cup of both semi sweet, and milk chocolate chips.

Fold the chocolate chips into the batter.

Step 5. Bake Fudgy Brownies

At this time spread the brownie batter into a greased 9×13 baking pan.

And bake at 350° for 28-33 minutes.

You’ll want to test it with a skewer or toothpick after 28 minutes.

Certainly you don’t want to over-bake it and have a dry brownie.

Garnish

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, you can make this delicious fudgy brownie recipe for your special someone.

You can either bake the brownie in a heart shaped pan, or use a cookie cutter to cut your heart shape.

And to make this brownie truly unforgetable, garnish it with our Cherry Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough Frosting.

It will make your taste buds sing!

Follow these simple steps and you’ll be enjoying the best fudgy brownie ever! Enjoy!

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 2 cups white sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1 tbsp vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 1/3 cup all purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup semi sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup milk chocolate chips
Instructions

Cream butter and sugar until well incorporated. Then add eggs and vanilla extract and beat for 2 minutes.
Add cocoa powder and salt to the egg mixture and beat well.
Add the flour and mix at a low speed just until the flour is incorporated. This will be a very stiff batter.
Fold in semi sweet and milk chocolate chips.
Pour into a greased 9×13 baking pan.
Bake at 350° for 28 to 33 minutes. Test brownies by inserting a toothpick into the center. A few brownie bits should remain on the toothpick.
Tips
  • To test to see if the brownie is baked, insert a toothpick in the center. The toothpick should not be entirely clean, but have a few chocolate pieces on it. You don’t want to over cook the brownies or they will be dry.

I would like to make this but I would use 3 eggs instead of 4. Four eggs would make this too cakey.
