Is there anything better than buttery, garlicky, cheesy bread? It is probably one of my favourite things to eat and so easy to make. I've made it so many different ways. Sometimes I'll use a baguette, ciabatta loaf, or a sourdough boule. I've used shredded cheddar, mozzarella, or for di Latte as my cheese. The same is true with the herbs I'll use. It depends on what I have on hand and whether I use fresh thyme, parsley, or basil. The point is, as long as you use lots of butter, garlic, and crusty bread, it doesn't matter what you use to stuff it with.

Ingredients

  • 5 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/3 cup parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 TBSP olive oil
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1 sourdough round boule
  • 3 TBSP butter
  • 4 ounces shredded cheddar cheese
  • Pinch of flaky salt
Instructions

Combine the garlic cloves, parsley, and olive oil in a small bowl and mix.
Melt the butter in a microwave
Once the butter is melted, add the chopped garlic mixture to the butter along with a pinch of salt and mix thoroughly.
Position a rack in the center of the oven and preheat the oven to 375ºF.
Using a sharp serrated knife, make 1-inch diagonal cuts across the loaf of bread making sure you don't cut the bread all the way through.
Use a spoon to drizzle the garlic butter into the cuts of the bread. Reserve 1 TBSP of the garlic butter mix to baste on the top of the bread.
Push cheese between the slits.
Baste the top of the bread with the remaining garlic butter mixture and sprinkle with flaky salt
Place the garlic bread on a sheet pan and put it into the oven. Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Remove from the oven and serve warm.
