we will see Appe Recipe is a famous snack recipe in India. In Marathi we called it Aappe.There are two main types of aapam spicy aapam and sweet aapam. And spicy aapam are prepared with different ingredients and various methods. In this article I am showing spicy mix dal and rice aapam with traditional fermantation method. So try this.

Ingredients To Make Appe Recipe :


. 3 cup rice(Chaval)

. 1 cup bengal gram(chana dal)

. 1 cup black gram (Urad dal)

. 1 cup green gram (moong dal)

. 1 tsp fenugreek seeds(Methi dana)

. 2 chopped onions

. 7-8 chopped gralic cloves

. 7-8 chopped curry leaves

. 3-4 chopped green chillies (as per taste)

. chopped coriander leaves

. musterd seeds

. pinch of asafoetida(hing)

. salt as per taste

. 3-4 tbsp oil

Steps To Make Appe Recipe :


. Step No 1 : Mix all grams(dal) and fenugreek seeds together in a bowl. wash it 2 times with water, then add required amount of water in it.

. Step No 2 : Take rice in separate bowl and wash it properly, add required amount of water in it.

. Step No 3 : Cover both bowls and allow to soak dal and rice for 4-5 hours.

. Step No 4 : After 4-5 hours drain water and grind soaked dal for a fine paste and grind soaked rice for coarse paste by adding some water.

. Step NO 5 : Now mix grinded dal and rice together in big bowl or utensi.

. Step No 6 : Cover with lid and place at warm place and allow to ferment for 10-12 hours.

. Step NO 7 : After 10-12 hours, add onion,garlic,salt,coriander leaves,curry leaves in this fermented batter.

. Step No 8 : Heat 1 tbsp oil in a tadka pan and add musterd seeds and allow to crackle it.

. Step No 9 : Add hing and switch off flame, then add chopped green chillies in hot oil.

. Step No 10 : Tempering is ready,pour it in batter and mix all ingredients gently.

. Step No 11 : Tempering gives nice taste and spongyness to aapam.

. Step No 12 : Check for medium thick consistency of batter.

. Step No 13 : Now heat the aapam mold pan and add little oil in each mold.

. Step No 14 : Then switch flame low and add batter in each mold with the help of spoon.

. Step No 15 : Cover the pan and allow to cook aapam for 3-4 minutes on medium flame.

. Step No 16 : After that add little oil on upper side of appam and turn the side of all aapam.

. Step No 17 : Again allow to cook it for 3-4 minutes on medium flame.

. Step No 18 : When cook properly from both sides,transfer it in serving plate.

. Step No 19 : Aapam are ready,always serve hot with coconut chutney, peanut chutney.

. In witnter season cover batter utensil with thick cotton cloth while fermentation,it will help to ferment batter easily.

. You can store fermented batter in fridge for 1 day in a airtight container before add salt and other ingredients.

. 1 whole Coconut (नारियल)

. 3-4 fresh Green Chillies (हरी मिर्च)

. ½ tsp Cumin Seeds (जीरा)

. 2 tbsp roasted Chana (भुना चना)

. 6-8 Cashew Nuts (काजू)

. 1 inch Ginger (अदरक)

. Salt to taste (नमक स्वादानुसार)

. ½ Lemon Juice (नींबू का रस)


. For Tempering :


. 2 tbsp Coconut Oil/Refined Oil (नारियल तेल या रिफाइंड तेल)

. 1 tsp Mustard Seeds (सरसों के बीज)

. ¼ tsp Fenugreek Seeds (मेथी दाना)

. 2 tbsp Gota Urad (गोटा उड़द)

. 1 tbsp Chana Dal (चना दाल)

. 2 dry Red Chillies (सूखी लाल मिर्च)

. 1 sprig Curry Leaves (कड़ी पत्ता)


. Step To MakeCOCONUT CHUTNEY FOR APPE RECIPE :


. Step No 1 : In a grinder jar add coconut, green chillies, cumin seeds, roasted chana, cashew nuts, ginger, salt and grind it into a fine paste.

. Step No 2 : Meanwhile heat oil in a pan and add mustard seeds, fenugreek seeds, gota urad, chana dal, dry red chillies, curry leaves and fry until nutty brown.

. Step No 3 : Now remove the coconut paste in a bowl add lemon juice and half of the tempering then mix everything properly. Put in a serving bowl and garnish with remaining tempering.
